1. What is PSD?
PSD stands for Portable Storage Device. This device is used as a data backup for memory cards. For instance, you have a 512 MB CF card for digital camera and you need something to store the photos and delete them from the card in order to give extra space for more photos. Instead of carrying a laptop around, you can simply use a PSD. Just plug your memory card into the PSD and press the button, photos will be downloaded to the internal hard drive within 100 secs with CompactDrive PD7X. Here PSD acts as an agent between your computer and your memory cards. It is light, small and less expensive compare to laptop. It saves you hundreds of dollars in purchasing memory cards, which is an ideal data backup solution for professional users such as photographers, music editors and so on.

18. How to format the hard disk from my computer?
All our CompactDrive's are pre-formatted and tested before shipment. If you need to reformat the device again, it is highly recommended that you format the CompactDrive hard disk using the formatter.exe tool, which can be downloaded from our website. In this way you can achieve the highest reliability for the CompactDrive.
Note, the hard drive has to be formatted in FAT32, which is the default option with our own formatting ultility.
Please note, under Windows FAT32 file system, the maximum supported size is 32 G.
In most cases, formatter.exe should format your hard drive within a few seconds (about 8 seconds to format a 40 G hard drive). In some rare event, the format progress (shown on the progress indication bar) may be unreasonably slow (>30 seconds). In this case, please quit the program and run the formatter again. This is caused by the USB 2.0 synchronization issue and your PC decided to drop the speed back to USB 1.1.
